See a Christmas version of Dancing in the Streets
Producers of the Motown musical Dancing in the Streets have announced a Christmas version of the show specially done for Christmas. This comes after the news of an eight week extension to its booking period.
The special version will be playing at the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End from 21 November to 7 January 2006.
At a special performance for the press of a compilation of the music was given. The producers said the Christmas version of the show recreated songs of The Four Tops, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Ritchie, Diana Ross &the Supremes, Smokey Robinson &the Miracles and Martha Reeves &the Vandellas. They also gave their version of festive classics such as White Christmas, Santa Claus is coming to town and Silent Night.
Dancing in the Streets opened on 19 July 2005 is directed by Keith Strachan, choreographed by Carole Todd and produced by Flying Music, the company behind The Rat Pack running at the Savoy Theatre. This show also has a Christmas version of the show.
During the six week run of the Christmas shows, matinee performances have been rescheduled from Fridays to Wednesdays. Performances will be Monday to Saturday at 8.00pm, matinee performances will be on Wednesday at 3.00pm. Sunday performances will be at 4.30pm, except on Friday 23 December performances will commence at 3.00pm and 8.00pm and Saturday 24 December at 3.00pm. There will not be any performances on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
