iPod sales hit 30 million
Figures show that the iPod phenomenon has been exactly that with worldwide sales reaching 30 million.
To tie in with the success of iPods, Apple has revealed that their iTunes Music Store has had users downloading over 600 million songs.
Apple are now hoping that their latest iPod, will be as successful here as it has been in the United States. The latest ones will be able to play videos as well as songs with the aim of making headway into the TV market. Experts feel this new iPod could have the same success with the TV market as it did for the music market.
Steve Jobs, the boss at Apple said, “Selling one million videos in less than 20 days strongly suggests there is a market for legal downloads.”
The success of watching TV on iPods in America has led to Apple selling episodes of Lost and Desperate Housewives to be seen, specifically on iPods. Apple are currently negotiating with broadcasters in Britain to broker a deal for releasing programmes on the new iPod.
