Birmingham city centre will get into the festive spirit next month when the Frankfurt Christmas Market comes to town
From Thursday 17 November to December 23, the citys Victoria Square and New street areas will be transformed into a busy hub of more than 180 Christmas stalls, providing everything from festive food and drink to toys and clothes .
Trading at the UKs biggest outdoor market will start at 10am and continue until 9pm, seven days a week.
This years market has been hailed by Birmingham City Council as a much-needed boost for the citys shops, bars, restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions following last months riots, which cost an estimated £7m in lost revenue.
A spokesman for the Council said: "Birmingham has been twinned with Frankfurt for more than 40 years and the partnership is celebrates every year by a range of event and exchanges involving schools, businesses and community groups."
"It is now the largest outdoor Christmas market in the country and will no doubt prove an invaluable boost for the citys economy."
