Christmas Drama Comes To Royal Leamington Spa

A Christmas stage drama which has been being presented to audiences across the country for 12 years is being brought to Leamington Spa in Warwickshire this weekend.

The award-winning Middle Ground Theatre Company Ltd will present their highly acclaimed production of The Holly and the Ivy by Wynyard Browne at the Royal Spa Centre from this Sunday (6 November) to Saturday November 12.

Set in a Norfolk vicarage on Christmas Eve 1947, the story follows the family of the elderly reverend Martin Gregory as they gather together for the festive season.

Peace and goodwill radiates from the warm-hearted elderly vicar, cared for by his young daughter, but the stresses and strains of normal family life start to show following the arrival of two irritable aunts and an errant daughter.

As skeletons tumble from closets and stones are turned over, family members are forced to confront their regrets and secret anxieties.

Tickets for the Xmas production, which has received the Theatre Critic’s Choice in both The Guardian and The Times, cost £16.50 or £15.50 if booked online.

Middle Ground Theatre Company was founded back in October 1988 and opened its first national tour (of museums and art galleries ) in Scotland the following spring, with a new piece of writing about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
