Record Tickets Sold For Festive Food Show

Fri, 02 Dec 2011
The 2011 Taste of Christmas consumer show is proving extremely popular with Britons, with Brand Events claiming a record number of tickets have been in advance of opening today (2 December).

The organiser said 35,000 tickets for the 3-day show at Excel London were snapped up prior to today, smashing last year’s total visitor figure of 30,000.

One of the highlights of this year’s program is a new deal with Jamie’s Big Festival event to provide a pop-up restaurant and 2,000 seat dining area. Tickets for the restaurant are being sold for £75 as part of a debut VIP dining package with £2 going to the Jamie Oliver Foundation.

A second pop-up restaurant, provided by the Action Against Hunger charity, is also hoping to raise £10,000 and will be manned by guest chefs Francesco Mazzei, Anna Hansen and Aldo Zilli.

As well as dining in top restaurants, visitors can sample a wide range of food and drink, participate in masterclasses and experience several theatre and stage demonstrations from top chefs Jamie Oliver, Gary Rhodes, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Michel Roux junior.

Lupe Prada, ehad of marketing, said: "We’ve got the best restaurant and chef line-up we’ve ever had this year so in many ways I’m not surprised that some days have already sold out."

"We’ve always been proud of offering a combination of world-class chefs alongside a huge choice of quality ingredients from over 150 seasonal producers and handmade gifts from 50 boutiques. People still want to try and buy the best quality, even more so at Christmas .

Brand Events said limited tickets for Saturday’s sold out show are being made available on the door
