To help cope with the busy run-up to Christmas, Marks and Spencer has launched a national recruitment drive.
The high street retailer is looking to hire around 20,000 "friendly, motivated and enthusiastic" employees across its 712 UK and Ireland stores for the festive season .
Steve Rowe, director of retail at M&S, said Christmas is "a really special time at M&S", with more than 29 million customers passing through its stores in the week leading up to Christmas Day .
The retailer is expecting the total number of people shopping for Christmas gifts at its outlets to be just as high this year.
"Thats why were looking for 20,000 more friendly, motivated and enthusiastic employees to help our customers find everything they need to celebrate Christmas this year," Rowe explained.
"We offer an excellent benefits package, and all our new recruits take part in a two-day induction training session so that they are fully-equipped to ensure our customers receive the best possible service."
