Europes top Xmas Markets Revealed

Berlitz Publishing, the market leader in language and travel-related products, has revealed its list of this year’s must-visit Christmas markets in Europe.

Clare Peel, the company's new development editor, said Europe is home to a "tantalising array' of festive fairs, which present an 'enviable dilemma for the globe-trotting seasonal shopper".

"For the traditional Germanic Yuletide market, Cologne and Vienna are hard to beat," she said.

"'Prague's Christmas market is a magical choice for anyone with children, as it includes a petting zoo with sheep, goats and even a llama, while the one in Budapest is advertised this year as "the biggest free entry outdoor event of the winter season."

"The famous Christmas market in Brussels is enduringly popular with foodies, and an illuminated big wheel and ice skating rink add to the appeal."

Peel also recommended Barcelona's Fira de Santa Llucia for people who want to experience something "traditional with a twist", and added that the UK cities of London and Leeds will be hosting their own continental markets this Xmas .
