A couple from the West Midlands have already started celebrating Christmas, a full 82 days in advance.
Leslie and Gladys Maw have already put up scores of flashing lights and other festive decorations in their home in Walsall, with other occasions such as Halloween and Bonfire Night still to come.
"Its worth all the money, time and effort just to see the childrens faces light up when all of them are done," said 67-year-old Gladys.
"One of my grandsons will dress up as Santa and give every kid a present - we dont like to see children going without."
"We just do it for the joy of it, even if it does cost hundreds of pounds."
Husband Leslie added: "The lights get a great response, were still putting things up and thats why weve started so early."
"We have 60 grandchildren and great-grandchildren with four more on the way - so there are plenty of people who will want to see them and plenty of presents to start buying."
A recent survey by supermarket giant Asda showed that half of all UK shoppers have already started purchasing their Xmas presents in an effort to spread the cost of Christmas .
